Turnaround Advisory
HDM provides a fully-encompassing turnaround approach to advising real estate developers and/or investors on either specific assets or on a portfolio basis. HDM can represent either the Borrower and/or Creditor(s) as a turnaround advisor to the Borrower.
The HDM role is to enhance the capabilities of management and other professionals in the restructuring process, helping to make the process more efficient and, therefore, less costly. HDM's role as turnaround advisor can focus on one, some or all of the following:
1. Act as a "reality check". 2 Re-design debt and equity.
3. Value the firm’s assets.
4. Estimate the value of creditor and
other stakeholder recoveries. 5. Assist the firm with negotiating a
restructuring plan. 6. Help the firm obtain working capital
financing to fund post-restructuring requirements. 7. Testify on behalf of the company (in the context of a chapter 11 case). Financial Advisory
HDM provides a fully-encompassing approach to advising financial institutions on the management of either specific assets or a portfolio of loans. HDM's role is to enhance the management of a Lender’s loan assets and/or OREO assets to ensure a process those results in a maximization of asset recoveries for the Lender. HDM’s role as an advisor to financial institutions can focus on one, some or all of the following:
1. Act as a "reality check" on the valuation of a Lender’s real estate portfolio. 2. Assess the Lender’s policies and
procedures. 3. Advice the Lender on workout strategies. 4. Prepare cost/benefits of hold strategy versus discounted sale of the portfolio. 5. Provide support and/or training of unseasoned workout staff. Asset Management
HDM provides management services on loans in the various stages of asset management, which include performing, non-performing, workout, foreclosure, pre-bankruptcy, bankruptcy and, through our affiliate, Hilco/Brandywine, OREO.

Edmund Terry Ed has over 22 years of real estate debt asset management, structured underwriting and workout experience. He was previously a Managing Director of Crystal Capital in the real estate debt and equity investment business. At Crystal, he coordinated the asset management of the existing portfolio and the origination and underwriting of new business.
Ed was formerly with NewStar Financial and was responsible for commercial real estate structured products and underwriting and at OneAmerica Financial Partners in Indianapolis. Prior to OneAmerica, he worked for Fleet Bank in Boston in the Shopping Center Group where he focused on construction debt products to mall developers and for Shawmut Bank as a group leader in the commercial real estate workout division focused on troubled debt restructures and portfolio disposition activities.
Ron has extensive real estate structuring, asset management, troubled debt resolution and workout experience. He was previously Managing Director at Crystal Capital where he led the real estate debt and equity investment business.
Ron had been with the Bank of America and its predecessors for over 24 years. During that time he held various senior positions including executive vice president and senior banker in the Real Estate Structured Finance, business line manager of Real Estate Workout, Restructuring and OREO, senior vice president and region executive in the Home Builder Finance Group and senior vice president and managing director of the Shopping Center Finance Division.
Ron has also managed and directed other real estate initiatives including REIT, Portfolio Finance, Community Real Estate, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit.
