SVP of Business Development - Asset Management Services

Hilco Real Estate (“HRE”) has an immediate opening for an SVP of Business Development- Asset Management Services. This individual will be an integral member of Hilco’s business development team, with the opportunity to strategically grow HRE’s fee-based asset management business within a growing and highly profitable private firm. The ideal candidate will have meaningful investment and client liaison experience successfully sourcing and closing real estate asset management engagements and managing multiple stakeholders and processes, resulting in investment optimization for the client and HRE alike. Hilco is based in Northbrook IL (but the position is open to remote candidates sourcing opportunities across the U.S. marketplace).

Background:

  • 5-10+ years of commercial real estate (acquisition and/or asset management) business development experience is required with consideration given in one or more of the following industries: corporate finance, investment banking, real estate lending, private equity, management consulting or similar
  • Demonstrable track record of successful asset management sourcing and business development
  • Deep market knowledge, established industry relationships, and enthusiasm necessary to strategically establish a commercial real estate service business, embracing the Hilco culture and objectives and becoming a trusted advisor to institutional-grade clients
  • Established presence within the private equity industry is a plus

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have a proven track record in originating and successfully executing third-party real estate portfolio asset management engagements.  Must be comfortable working in a dynamic business environment and willing to travel for relationship development purposes.

  • Deep market knowledge and enthusiasm necessary to establish an accretive business plan and sell commercial real estate services, embracing Hilco’s client-focused culture and becoming a trusted advisor to a broad base of business
  • Familiarity and first-hand experience with all aspects of the asset management process, including valuation, hold/sell modeling and risk/return analyses, financing alternatives, site selection, development management, lease advisory, and other major decision-making including presentations to key stakeholders
  • Keen project management skills and experience with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • An energetic and honest professional & critical thinker, using logic to find opportunities.
  • Technically proficient; fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel a must), advanced internet skills and the ability to quickly comprehend and utilize market research tools and data sources. Overall strong background in real estate portfolio asset management technology is required.
  • Professional, ethical demeanor, engaging personality and self-confidence with team management/oversight, deal negotiations, and closings, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Must be able to communicate the Hilco value proposition persuasively.
