Larry brings Hilco over 30 years of experience in all aspects of real estate operations, finance, acquisitions, development, leasing, and asset management. He has multi-layered expertise in the retail, office, multi-family, and mixed-use sectors in both public and private companies. Larry was a full-time consultant on Hilco’s JC Penney engagement before joining Hilco Real Estate as Executive Vice President.

Prior to his association with Hilco, Larry headed Strategic Advisory, Inc. where he specialized in improving public REIT valuations and achieved material valuation increases for his clients. During this period, he also was a member of the Board of Directors of American Assets Trust (NYSE: AAT) and served on the Compensation Committee and as Chair of the Audit Committee.

Before founding Strategic Advisory, Larry served as CFO at Federal Realty Investment Trust (NYSE: FRT) and Washington Real Estate Investment Trust (NYSE: WRE). At both companies, in additional to his CFO role, he was responsible for asset management. As a REIT CFO, Larry executed nearly $2 billion in public equity and unsecured debt offerings, obtained over $1 billion in corporate unsecured lines of credit, and secured initial ratings and upgrades from S&P and Moody’s. During Larry’s tenure, FRT’s and WRE’s stock multiples rose from the middle of the REIT industry to number one and number two, respectively.

In addition to financial and operations expertise, Larry has extensive knowledge of ground-up development, re-development and leasing. While at FRT, the company successfully invested over $450 million in new office buildings, apartments and retail as well as shopping center redevelopments. Earlier in his career, as Head of Development and COO at Savage/Fogarty Real Estate, he oversaw the development and leasing of approximately 1 million square feet of Class A downtown and suburban office space.

Larry has been a regular presenter at the SNL REIT School, served as a member of the NAREIT Best Financial Practices Council and as an expert witness in real estate litigation. Larry earned a BS in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Maryland and was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar.
